Notice of Supreme Court Decision and Motion re. Noncompliance 11.01.24
Friends of Sammamish Valley (FOSV), together with Futurewise, has successfully upheld a Washington Supreme Court ruling that invalidates King County Ordinance 19030, a regulation threatening responsible land use in our region. Despite the Court’s decision, King County has delayed compliance, leaving the ordinance in the public code and creating confusion that risks encouraging unpermitted rural development. FOSV has formally requested that the Growth Management Hearings Board enforce the removal of this invalid ordinance within 30 days to protect the integrity of the Sammamish Valley. If necessary, FOSV will urge the Governor to impose sanctions on King County to ensure that local land use laws are respected and our valley remains safeguarded from harmful development practices.
